IconExtras (C) 1995
by Jeff Axelrod
Purpose:
--------
IconExtras provides you with some icon processing utilities that the
Workbench designers left out. With these tools, you can change the color
of your system drawers, make file links, copy and delete icons. With each
script, the icon is updated immediately in its window using the included
"copyicon" and "deleteicon" commands, which notify the workbench that
you've changed or added an icon.
Required:
---------
If you want to use the included scripts, you'll need ToolsDaemon or some
other similar product which allows you to add items to the Workbench menus.
This can be found on Aminet. And you'll need ARexx installed. If you want
to just use copyicon and deleteicon in your own shell scripts, you don't
need ARexx or ToolsDaemon.
Installation:
-------------
Copy the contents of the bin directory to c: or somewhere else in your
path where you keep your favorite shell utilities. Copy the contents of
the Rexx directory into your Rexx: directory. Copy the contents of the
envarc directory to your envarc:sys directory. Then, if you use
ToolsDaemon, for each IconExtra command you want to install, add the
command "rx COMMANDNAME []" in CLI mode.
Usage:
------
For each icon manipulating script, just select the icon, then go up to the
ToolsDaemon menu and select the script you'd like to execute. The
makedrawer scripts make different colored drawers like the Macintosh does.
The makelink script makes a link just like the Macintosh make alias command
does. And delete icon deletes an icon without deleting the file itself.
Feel free to change the sample drawer images I've supplied or make your own
with IconEdit in your Tools directory. The colors I named were based on an
8-color Workbench with a MUI palette. The named colors may not necessarily
match your particular system's colors.
Source:
-------
Source is included and was compiled with SASC V6.5. Feel free to change it
to suit your taste or include it in other programs.
